About DLI

Development and leadership institute (DLI) is a non-profit, non-governmental, organization, set up to amongst other things: develop the potentials of future generations of visionary and credible leaders in Nigeria and across Africa.  Formed in 2002 by a group of young Nigerians led by Dakuku Peterside, DLI is registered with the Rivers State Government as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) and Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) with registration number RC 737740 as a company limited by guarantee (LTD/GT). Development and Leadership Institute started as Democratic Leadership Institute but later changed its name in 2006 in a bid to widen its focus to include core integrated sustainable development areas.

To Identify and develop leadership potentials of young African citizens .

To Support initiatives that enhance sustainable human development and self reliance.

To Promote social inclusiveness through good governance, economic empowerment and gender parity .

To promote better political culture through political education and citizenship dialogue.

To provide Professional capacity building, training and skills development.

To foster Information dissemination through research and constructive analysis on key socio-economic and political issues.

To strengthen local SMEs through organizational development, business advisory services and corporate   
consultancy.
